If by being linked to a medium that conveys experiences that an individual expects from everyday life it is possible for the outer world to be the world being communicated by media and technical means. Under these conditions the interface and the contents transported by the medium can be treated as an immediately experienced environment. The requirement for this is that the world being comunicated allow for the meaningful spontaneity of intervening body movement.
The degree of success in communicating a tractable world is largely dependent on the design of the staging space.
